About the CRA

The Central Roadracing Association (CRA) celebrated it’s 50th anniversary in 2020! The CRA is a not-for-profit organization run entirely by a volunteer Board of Directors and race/event staff. Our mission is to provide the safest, most affordable, and fun environment in support of the sport of motorcycle road racing. Everything we do in terms of financials is designed to support that mission. Our race fee structure, awards program, advertising, volunteer incentive programs, and safety funds are all closely maintained and managed to grow the sport, increase safety, and ensure longevity of the organization itself.

The Club currently operates five 3-day weekends per year; May – September exclusively at Brainerd International Raceway (BIR). We host a year-end awards banquet that recognizes achievements, provides introductions to both people and Club topics, and in general is a lot of fun. We host rules forums each fall where membership can propose changes to the official CRA rulebook, and we provide a new riders school and seminar in March to give new riders an early start to season preparations.

The organization consists of approximately 300 members, a board of directors, and several Board appointed positions. Racing is run operationally by approximately 120 volunteers each event weekend. Areas of responsibility are broken out into independent “specialties” lead by a “chief or chiefs” and then staffed with volunteers.

Motorcycle racing is organized into multiple classes offering opportunities to race inclusive of all skill and commitment levels from the occasional novice to dedicated expert. Talent in the Club includes former and current AMA Pro road racers. The organization, as well as many individual racers, is supported by many of the industry’s top suppliers of product, services, and gear.
